College Cheerleading videographer

I work as a cheerleading videographer and cinematographer, filming collegiate cheerleading teams, competitive gyms, and recruiting content across the United States.

Division 1A All-Girl Cheer | “Horns Up” Docuseries

During a two-year break from filming weddings, I had the opportunity to step into the world of NCAA Division 1A cheerleading, documenting the University of South Florida All-Girl team across two full competitive seasons.

The result was Horns Up, a documentary series following the team through training, preparation, and national championship runs — capturing the intensity, pressure, and dedication required at the highest level of collegiate cheerleading.

Filmed and directed solo, the series provided a rare behind-the-scenes look at the daily grind of a championship program.

If you're a cheerleading coach or collegiate program, I specialize in capturing authentic team culture, practices, and competition preparation through cinematic storytelling.

For filmmakers interested in documentary storytelling, I also created a full course breaking down how I filmed two seasons of NCAA cheerleading as a solo cinematographer.

The course covers:

  • Camera setups

  • Interview lighting

  • Following athletes during practice

  • Documentary storytelling structure

  • Editing sports docuseries

Season 1 follows the USF All-Girl team through a championship season, capturing the pressure, injuries, and relentless work required to compete at the top level of NCAA cheer.

Season II Horns Up USF All Girl Season 2, titled “Leave No Doubt,” continues the story with deeper access to practices, athlete interviews, and the team's pursuit of another national title.

Both seasons were filmed, directed, and edited entirely solo by Brett Hatfield. 1357 Media

College Cheerleading 2025 Cinematic Edit | Cheerleading Cinematographer

A cinematic highlight capturing the speed, athleticism, and intensity of collegiate cheerleading.

This style of content is ideal for:

Recruiting videos

Program promotion

Social media campaigns

National championship hype content

I also created the Open Gym mini-series — a documentary-style concept where I sit down with individual stunt groups for interviews before filming their practice sessions.

The goal is simple:
Let future athletes see real, unfiltered practices.

No scripts.
No staged moments.
Just the reality of the work behind elite cheer programs.

Open Gym episodes highlight:

  • Stunt group chemistry

  • Team communication

  • Athlete personalities

  • The raw process behind elite routines

These smaller productions are perfect for programs that want high-quality content without a full documentary production schedule.

USF All Girl & Tampa University | Open Gym

Hatfield Productions created the Open Gym series for YouTube and TikTok to showcase the real side of cheerleading.

Cheerleading is one of the most demanding sports in the NCAA — long practices, endless repetition, and constant pressure to perform. Open Gym brings viewers inside that process.

Episodes feature:

  • Mic’d up stunt groups

  • Athlete interviews

  • Unstructured practices

  • Behind-the-scenes access to elite programs

Programs featured include:

  • University of South Florida All-Girl Cheer (Division 1A)

  • University of Tampa Cheer (Division II)

NCAA Division 1A Cheerleading Programs

NCAA Division 1A cheerleading represents the highest level of collegiate competitive cheer. Programs train year-round and compete nationally at events such as the NCA College Nationals in Daytona Beach.

Many Division 1A programs focus on all-girl stunting, elite tumbling, and advanced pyramid structures.

Programs competing at this level include:

• University of South Florida All-Girl
• University of Kentucky Cheer
• University of Louisville Cheer
• University of Central Florida Cheer
• Texas Tech Cheer
• Weber State Cheer

These programs represent the highest level of athleticism in collegiate cheerleading and require intense year-round preparation.

The Horns Up docuseries follows the University of South Florida All-Girl team through this demanding competitive environment, capturing the preparation behind a national championship program.
